The primary purpose of our K4 program is to help parents prepare their children for Kindergarten by providing extra time for appropriate skills development. Our program involves periods of structure, primarily when using instructional material from the A Beka K4 program. Students work on letter and number recognition, phonics, counting, listening skills and number concepts, as well as the development of fine and gross motor skills.
Singing, story time, snack time, crafts, learning centers, show-and-tell and games are employed to reinforce learning and to encourage the development of social skills. Bible time is a very special time that helps the children apply biblical character qualities such as kindness, sharing, obedience and self-control to their everyday lives and further enhances social skills. The children have a rest time where they learn to respect the needs of others as well as get refreshed themselves. Hot lunches can be purchased on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Children at SCA enjoy learning and will get off to a great start in school. They will find love and encouragement balanced with structure and discipline.
