Fifth Graders “Wonder”

The fifth grade class spent several weeks reading and discussing the book Wonder. August Pullman, the main character, is a ten year old boy with a facial deformity. The book tells about the experience he faces while going through fifth grade. On Friday, December 8, August’s struggles became very real to us as we went to a theater and saw the movie. After comparing the book and the movie, the majority of the students said they liked the book better. We also did a book mobile project where we analyzed each character and their relationship to August. Whether you watch the movie or read the book, the theme remains the same: choose kind.
