Fire Safety Day at SCA!

Wednesday, October 4th was Fire Safety Day at SCA! Elementary students enjoyed a visit from two of our local fire companies.  Becky Geise along with her fellow firefighters from Tuckahoe and Point Township Fire Companies gave students a tour of the fire trucks and many pieces of equipment they use. Students got to see a fire fighter dress up in full gear. It was cool to listen to the sound of the firefighter speaking through his mask.

Students also got to see a video presentation in the sanctuary. The video presentation briefly introduced the following to the students:
1. Having a meeting place in the event of a fire (a meeting place is a safe place that the child can go to in the event of a fire)
2. If the room that you are in is full of smoke, stay low to the floor. Smoke rises leaving clean air close to the ground. The fire fighters will find you and rescue you.
3. If there is smoke in the building, and you cannot get out, never open the door to the room that you are in. Instead, get low to the ground and wait at a window for the rescue to come.
4. If you have fire on you, STOP, DROP, AND ROLL. Rolling on the floor smothers the fire and prevents air from allowing the fire to continue to burn. Cover your eyes, so that no smoke gets into your eyes.

Our firefighters did an awesome job welcoming and answering students questions. Thanks again to Becky Geise and our volunteer firefighters from Tuckahoe and Point Township Fire Companies
