Fourth Grade Studies Ancient Artifacts

Pennsylvania’s history took center stage recently at Sunbury Christian Academy in the fourth grade classroom. Pennsylvania history, which is studied for approximately six weeks, focused for a few days on the Native Americans who once lived in what is now Pennsylvania. Mr. Thomas, the fourth grade teacher, showed and explained his collection of Pennsylvania Indian artifacts. The display included projectile points, stone knife blades, ax heads, spear points, potsherds, stone dishes, net sinkers, and many other evidences of an ancient civilization that once spanned the region. Most of the relics were found by Mr. Thomas near the Susquehanna River and the Chillisquaque Creek.
