Grace Prep at SCA

As the skies started to clear the girls took the field to start off today’s games as SCA hosted Grace Prep. Brandy Schroth opened up the scoring for the Lady Eagles as she placed one in the net with 15:10 left in the first half. The Lady Eagles offense continued to get off shots during the second half but the back of the net eluded them. Persistence paid off as Faith Gingrich tallied a second goal late in the second half. Just a few minutes later Cierra Gross scored again off an assist from Sarah Spangler. The Lady Eagles were awarded a penalty kick late in the game as Jenna Stuck struck the post and Brianna Baumert was there for the rebound as she finished off the scoring by putting in the rebound with only 18 seconds left on the clock. The girls finished the game with a 4-0 win.

The guys had a rough time today. Frustration set in early as Grace Prep scored only 2 minutes into the game. The Eagles continued to play hard but had a tough time getting organized and generating offense. Grace Prep took advantage of this as they placed a second ball in the back of the net with 21:57 left in the first.  The offense came back to life and the defense started to find their form again as the Eagles started the second half. The offense out shot the Storm 12-6, several missed opportunities on set plays, corners and even hitting the post twice kept the Eagles scoreless in the second half as the game ended with the Eagles suffering a 2-0 loss.

Both teams will take a much needed break to rest their bodies over the next four days as they prepare for their next match-up at home on Tuesday when they host Juniata Mennonite.
