Meadowbrook at SCA

Mixed results tonight as SCA hosted the Lions for a home game.

The Lady Eagles struggled tonight to contain the Lady Lions offense as they out-shot the Lady Eagles 14-5. The Lady Eagles were able to tally some goals tonight from Sarah Spangler and Cierra Gross but it was not enough as the Lady Eagles ended the game with an 8-2 loss.

With three starters not in the line up tonight and no substitutes on the bench, the Eagles would need an all out effort from the 11 remaining on the roster for tonight’s match-up against the visiting Lions. The Eagles gave that effort tonight. An early penalty shot taken by Blake Spangler-Jones was deflected away in what could have been the opening score just three minutes into the game. In this tightly contested game this deflection was a huge play for the Lions. A short lapse in the Eagles defense allowed the Lions to score first midway through the first half. Heading to the bench at halftime and down by one,  Eagles captain Ashton Bartlett came to the bench fired up and wanted his team to remain fired up heading into the second half. Missed opportunities came from both teams as the play stayed even. Late into the second half Branden Sheaffer was tripped in the box but the officials marked it outside the 18. Determined, Blake Spangler-Jones placed a beautiful direct into the upper 90 to equalize the game with 18  minutes left in the game. Missed opportunities and great goal tending  continued as both teams frantically tried to put the game away. Time expired with the match evened up at 1.
