NCA at SCA

The Lady Eagles soared to another league victory on Thursday with a decisive 6-0 victory over New Covenant Academy. Lighting the scoreboard up this time was Sarah Spangler (2), Marissa Spangler, Cierra Gross, Torri Erdman and Faith Wolfe. It was a great day for some of the younger Eagles to show off their talents as they saw lots of playing time and are starting to get more comfortable in their positions.

Sometimes the score does not tell the tale of the game. What a great effort from both teams tonight. Adam Clemens started the scoring tonight after receiving a beautiful thru ball from Seth Kabonick. Clemens found himself one-on-one with the keeper as he placed it low and hard into the net with 13:10 left in the first half. NCA responded with two goals just two minutes apart to go ahead of the Eagles. With five minutes left in the half a determined Kabonick raced down the right touch-line and crossed a long ball right in front of the net to find a crashing Tanner Gutelius for the equalizer to send both teams into the half tied at two. Soon into the second half NCA was awarded a PK as NCA took the lead after the shot. The Eagles kept up the pressure as Tanner Gutelius sent a long ball to Clemens for his second goal of the game. Looking like the game was going to be tied, NCA had a break away with three minutes left in the game as keeper Blake Spangler-Jones came out hard for the block. NCA fired on net only to have Spangler-Jones stop the shot but created a rebound as the ball was heading out-of-bounds an unmarked NCA player place the ball in the corner for the go ahead goal. The Eagles took some chances to put more offensive pressure on NCA and once again a break away through the SCA defense caused one last goal with 10 seconds left in the game. Great effort by the Eagles tonight as they found themselves down 5-3 for this ACAA matchup.  The teams will be back in action next Tuesday as they head up to Meadowbrook.
