SCA at Walnut St.

After a slow start and facing a two goal deficit, the Lady Eagles pulled it together to edge out a 3-2 victory over Walnut Street Christian School. With less than six minutes left in the first half, Brianna “Bannert” Baumert out sprinted a WS defender and slipped it past the goalie to cut the score to 2-1. Less than three minutes later, Brianna took a great leading pass from Faith Gingrich leveling the score at 2-2 as the half-time horn sounded.

The second half produced back-and-forth competitive play as each side had chances but weren’t able to convert. With just twelve minutes left, the match had to be suspended due to thunder and lightning. Once play restarted, the Lady Eagles definitely had the momentum and took it right to the Warriors and pressed hard with offensive rushes and lots of shots. With just seven minutes to go, Cierra Gross took a long clearance down the left wing and squeezed the game winner just inside the right post for the 3-2 victory.

The Lady Eagles had a memorable time playing under the lights on the artificial turf.

After a long rain delay the guys game finally got started and Tanner Gutelius got things going quickly when he scored just 24 seconds into the game as he streaked down the left side of the field on a send from Adam Clemens. Gutelius scored again at the 20 minute mark with a break away down the middle. Adam Clemens added to the first half goals with a hard shot into the lower left 90 from 18 yards out. With a comfortable lead heading into the second half the younger guys were placed in the forward positions to give them some experience being up front. Seth Kabonick received a nice cross from Gutelius to find the back of the net 10 minutes into the second half. Gavin Troutman had a few nice looks at the net but his best take came with 2:04 left in the game to score his first goal of the season. Great game for the guys playing under the lights and on turf as they came away with a 5-0 win in this ACAA match-up.

Teams are back in action on Monday as they travel out to State College to play Grace Prep.
