SCA Honor Society

Sunbury Christian Academy’s Honor Society welcomed five new inductees Thursday, February 23, at a reception at Marzoni’s in Selinsgrove. Senior class inductees were Shianne Reitz, daughter of David & Brenda Reitz and Dylan Taylor, son of Amy Taylor. Junior class inductees were Seth Kabonick, son of Ronald & Lisa Kabonick, Colton Long, son of Jason & Amy Long, and Jenna Stuck, daughter of Jeff & Kim Stuck.

To become an Honor Society member, a student must maintain a 92% average and have no C’s for four consecutive marking periods. In addition, all of the new members have been active in multiple areas of school life, including sports, choirs, theater, student council, and yearbook. Two of the juniors, Seth Kabonick and Colton Long, were members of the STEM team which took first place in the competition held February 22.

2016 Honor Society members Nathan Derk, Alex Gessner, Faith Gingrich, Justin Keller, and Madeline Novack attended to honor the new inductees. Faculty members Vonnie Campbell, Joseph Buczeskie, Jacob Fahringer, and Roberta Brosius, and SCA administrator Richard Hennett participated in the program.

Candy Hennett, a local pharmacist, spoke to the students, using events from her childhood and education to encourage them to pursue academic excellence and a close relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Carrying on a SCA tradition, each new member received his or her favorite pie.
