Second Grade Visits Library

The students in second grade had a grand literary adventure this week! After celebrating Literacy Day, the second grade students traveled to the Priestley-Forsyth Memorial Library in Northumberland to have some first-hand library experiences. The students had the opportunity to look for a book in the computer card catalog, follow signs to locate the book, and then examine their book for information like publisher, and other important text features. After examining their books thoroughly, the students searched for a DVD from the audio-visual section to go along with their specific book. The students also learned that the librarian is their friend, who will gladly help them to locate whatever they need. Following the field trip, students made a visit to the school library. All in all second grade had great fun learning about the library on their field trip!
